ACT In Black has produced a version of the original housing called ACT PVS-14 that closely follows the original specs and design. Compare this with their own further developing of the original form to create the ACT THE-14, which is compatible with most if not all PVS-14 mil-spec accessories whilst remaining a separate model device.

The AN/PVS-14 is a monocular night vision housing developed by Elbit. This popular and successful design has been produced by other companies such as ACT In Black and L3 Harris as well as being both copied and improved upon by yet more actors on the market.

The AN/PVS-14 was designed in 2000 and entered service that very same year and remains (as of August 2022) in service with the US Armed Forces as well as a number of NATO-member countries.
