| The Night Optics D-300 ( Also known as the AMBIA, altho there are differences in the tube selection and an adapter on the objective lense I have noted) Which is sadly no longer produced and offered by Night Optics, is a fantastic Aluminum Bodied, Versatile and Sturdy, high-end Night Vision Monocular Housing.

| One of the D-300/Ambia and its most important features as a Night Vision Housing, was the fact that depending on what model you purchased( I am speculating here..) You recieved a Housing with a "SMall Anvis" Tube Adapor. Which would be housing the MX-10160 style tube you may have purchased with it.

| This unique feature is an incredible advantage over something like a PVS-14 which can ONLY utelize SMall ANvis sized Image Intensifier Tubes. Because the Night Optics D-300/AMbia housing, is actually initially sized for larger "Fat Anvis" or 43mm Outer Diameter Tubes, with FIberoptic Inverting Twists that were originally designed as the early inverting tubes used in the PVS-5 series of Night Vision GOggles used by the US Military in the 1970s and on into the early 1990s. Utelziing mostly MX-9916 ( which are a very early Gen 3 Fat Anvis tube, these tubes almost always are found encapsulated in thier aluminum "boot" or "Pod" which was a part of the design of the PVS-5's. But in the 1990s and early 2000s these fairly good tubes, started being offered as "Gen 3" offerings by many night vision companies such as the now defunct "HiTek", and many others. I personaly own 2 HiTek devices which both came with nice MX-9916's that had been either cutt or pressed out of thier Aluminum housings, and nicely covered with thin plastic boots and stickers to make them cleaner looking.

| The Optics on the D-300/Ambia are very good quality, and well made with smooth and reliable adjustments. And The IR Illuminators, while only offering a basic FLOOD setting, have 2 VERY strong levels of illumination that is more than adequit for seeing whats in your immediate area!

| I just rached out to Night Optics and Requested they send me a Product manual PDF ( I do own and have now owned 2 of these fine housings) And hope that they will provide a list of the Acessores that they produced and also hopefully any magnification lenses that are widely abailable and that can be used with a D-300 style housing. Also I hope to recieve a basic Schematic for the Housing and Devices. I feel these Aluminum bodies Housings, though slightly larger and heaveier than a PVS-14... Are a fantastic if not THE best alternative to the Carson PVS-14 in a monocular housing in particular due to thier high level of quality, the fact they can use both Fat Anvis and Small Anvis sized tubes, and also they feature 3 total steel 1/4x28 (Trippod threads/Pvs-14 J-Arm Threaded) Moutning points. 2 of these mounting points are on the "Top" of the device, one front and one rear, and the 3rd is on the side and is the most adventagous place to mount a J-arm for helmet or Skull Scrusher mounting..
