The DTNVS is a lightweight articulating binocular housing developed and sold by ACTinBlack. It is an improved version of the older DTNVG housing.
Design and construction[edit | edit source]
The DTNVS is made from lightweight and durable materials, able to withstand hard use and harsh enviorments which is particularly desirable during special operations.
Its design allows for a low profile when folded to the helmet with the pods fully extended. This also reduces neck strain when carrying the device for extended periods of time.
Functional features[edit | edit source]
The DTNVS features an individual sideways articulated ON/OFF function for each pod and a general ON/OFF when folded up.
Just like its predecessor the DTNVS incorporates an IR LED for short range illumination with separate IR-ON indicator in each pod as well as a low battery power indicator.
The DTNVS uses a standard CR123A battery for power, which provides over 25 hours of runtime.
The device does not feature an external battery port, so users have to rely on bringing spares to replace the battery if it runs out of power in the field. However, when either pods are flipped up, it halves the power consumption, thereby extending runtime.
Technical data and specifications[edit | edit source]
The device weighs 441-510 grams, depending on the chosen optic and tube for the device. It is compliant with the MIL-STD-810G standard.
